Busy Working in Your Business – Or on Your Business?
Solo entrepreneurs are always faced with a tough decision when it comes to finding the time to work ON their business. They are busy working IN their business. There are customers that need serving, telephone calls to be made/answered, paperwork needing to be shuffled, and just things that need to be done to keep the business running.
What happens when you don’t make time to work ON your business though? You will find- you no longer have customers to serve, the phone is not ringing, no paperwork to shuffle, and you have a lot of free time. Why? If you spend all your time just IN your business who is out promoting it? “But…when I am not here I may miss customers, important phone calls, and I just don’t have enough hours in the day. I pay for advertising, I shouldn’t have to do anything else.”
Everyone can schedule 1 hour per day to work on their business.
Any customer who can not work with the hours you set, is not a customer you are going to want. One hour to return a telephone call is not going to break a deal. When you organize your tasks and schedule them, you will find that you are spending time on things that are just not a priority. Advertising is always a good idea, but more and more people are shifting where and who they do business with. They are wanting to do business with local companies and with people they know and feel they can trust.
How is someone going to know that you are a locally owned company? How do they get to know you and ultimately trust you? How do other local business owners get to know you and feel comfortable referring you? You can’t place ads in newspapers, magazines, etc, set up a website, and put your profile on social networking sites and then sit back and wait for people to come to you.
You need to spend time out in the community meeting people, you need to participate in the social networking sites by adding content, and you need to find other business owners to refer you. To accomplish these things you need to participate in local events, join/participate with your local chamber of commerce, start discussions, place blog posts, and communicate with other members on social networking sites, and find local networking groups where you can form relationships with other business owners.
You have control of your time and how you are going to spend it. What are you going to do today to work “ON” YOUR business?

Busy, Busy, Busy: A Method Of Life
Being busy has become a method of life for several of us. Therefore a lot of therefore that we tend to begin to feel guilty if we have a tendency to find ourselves not being busy or we tend to feel uncomfortable if we tend to realize we have nothing to stay ourselves busy. If we see someone who isn’t being busy then we tend to suppose they’ll be lazy or unwell. If we tend to aren’t busy, we have a tendency to strive to think about ways to appear busy!
In our work, in our office, in our home, we have a tendency to wish to be busy. We tend to might complain that we tend to haven’t got an instant to ourselves and nevertheless, after we find that point, we tend to feel guilty and feel we tend to ought to be doing one thing!
In our minds we have a tendency to appear to be confusing being busy with achieving. Our efforts to keep busy seem to be replacing our drive to be successful. Maybe we feel that if we tend to keep busy, at some point our efforts will magically bring success. Or perhaps we have a tendency to keep ourselves busy to take our minds off puzzling over other things.
Yet, if you were to raise individuals what sort of life that might love to guide, how many would say they dreamt of a ‘busy’ life? Most of us would dream of a calm, peaceful and successful life, which is quite the opposite of a busy life.
Being busy isn’t a virtue, it’s not a goal. Being busy is what happens when we find ourselves adrift from what really matters in our life. Being busy is what happens once we find ourselves operating to the values and goals of others in our lives; our boss, our line manager, the corporate, even our oldsters, partners, youngsters and, yes, even the opposite individuals living in our street.
Someone who appearance busy may have the appearance of being successful, powerful, and influential but do they very feel that means? Usually not. Typically, the person feels flustered, irritated, pressured and stressed. They feel as if they are not in control of their own time or their own lives and feel they’re operating to the demands of others.
Keeping busy takes individuals far from their own thoughts and visions. It takes them off from working toward their own success or their own purpose. Busy people have little time to think about ‘the big image’, they are busy operating on a very little piece of a puzzle without knowing where or whether or not it fits.
People will say that they are going to figure and keep busy to earn money. This might sound fair enough but earning money is solely a ‘reason’ for visiting work. Having a ‘reason’ isn’t the identical as having a ‘purpose’. How many people would say that their purpose in life is to earn cash? You may would like to earn cash, maybe heaps of money, to realize your purpose or live the life you want for yourself and your family but earning the money isn’t the aim of life.
Being busy has effects upon ourselves that we have a tendency to do not realise. We tend to stop talking to folks; I mean extremely talking to them. Sure, we may talk concerning no matter thing we have a tendency to are each busy doing but do we have a tendency to really talk concerning anything else? How many of these folks do we tend to really recognize? We have a tendency to could recognize a small amount concerning the work they are doing however do we have a tendency to very recognize something about them as folks? Do they understand anything about us? Being busy takes time aloof from different things and from alternative people. How many people have heard our partner complain that they are doing not see enough people? How several of us would love to spend additional time with our youngsters or more time for ourselves?
Being busy has effects upon our health, how several of us have felt stressed as a result of being too busy? How many people know we have a tendency to are beneath strain but fear to weigh down in case we tend to are seen as lazy or not pulling our weight? How several people will find the time to book that urgent doctor’s that we have a tendency to know we need however are just too busy to fit it in?
Therefore, currently, raise yourself these questions;
one) After I am being busy, whose purpose am I operating for? Mine? My family’s? The corporate’s?
2) When I am not being busy, do I ever feel guilty, lazy or devious?
3) When I am being busy, how several individuals do I speak to? What do we tend to speak concerning? Do I really grasp the folks I talk to?
four) If I weren’t being therefore busy, what else could I be doing?
5) In the last week, how many successes have I had?
six) Could I become additional successful without being so busy?
7) What advantages may it bring me and those shut to me if I ended being therefore busy?

When does a person call themselves a writer and why are some people given an urge to write but are unsure what it is they actually want to write? Writers are interesting, eclectic, creatures. For some it may be a need to record a family history, others a biography of a family member or even themselves. I’ve often heard people say say they have this story floating around in their head and they just want to get it down on paper. A traveler might want to record a trip diary. Whatever the reason for wanting to write it is always a good idea to bite the bullet and just do it. You say, `but I’m not trained,’ or `I don’t know where to start,’ or `okay I’ve written it but I’m not that great at spelling and grammar.’ ‘I started well but now I’m stuck.’ One cry I hear a lot is ‘I’ve written it but I know it’s not nearly long enough to make a book out of.
How do I pad it out?’ Every one of these is a legitimate sentiment for the beginning writer. For myself, I have been studying the art of writing since I was 15.
I have read a zillion (slightly exaggerated) books and articles on the subject, undertaken courses, attended international conferences and seminars, weekend workshops, and joined writers’ groups. Currently I am Past President of the Hibiscus Coast Writers Group, a well-organised group of prolific writers, several published, that held its inaugural meeting in 1993 and members are still meeting monthly today. Dream Writers is a small business I began when I saw the need for some extra encouragement and assistance for people who have reached the stage where they can go no further without help and they don’t have the kind of budget needed to employ a costly service.
The type of fiction I personally write is mostly romance. It suits my personality to write in this genre; most writers generally have one area of writing they feel more drawn to. For instance, I could never throw myself whole-heartedly into the writing of a thriller or horror story – I would probably frighten myself to death, and as we have to live daily with our characters and their dilemmas, I prefer mine to be of a gentler persuasion.
Today, the opportunities for writers are greater than ever before. This does not mean that we can be lax in what we produce – the standard still needs to be high to please our discerning readers – but the avenues for publication are more accessible.
We all said it at the beginning – `Ebooks will never catch on.’ Well, we have all been proved wrong. Ebooks have definitely caught on to the extent that in 2010 in the US, eBook sales surpassed traditionally published books. E-readers, that started with the Amazon Kindle, are now numerous and people are downloading their eBooks into their ereaders cheaply and for ease of reading/access. Apple, Sony, Kobo, Nook, PocketBook, Aluralek Libre, Cybook, Elonix, Icarus, Boox, VelocityMicro’s Cruz Tablet, Ipapyrus, Eslick, Jetbook, Cybook are a few of what are currently available and, clearly, the list will continue to grow. Users are even able to download to their iPods and iphones so, you can see, the market for eBooks is huge.
Here are a few – The Passionate Pen; Ellor’s Cave (sexually explicit welcome); Evernight Publishing; Noble Romance; Romance at Heart; Total E-Bound; Treble Heart; Vintage Romance; Wild Rose Press. There are many more as are there for other genres but, as romance holds a place dear to my own heart and it is what I write about, I am constantly reading and studying it. Romance was born for each of us when we took our first steps and it will still be in our hearts when we take our last so the importance of romance in our lives will remain so long as we have dreams in our hearts. Remember, romance is not just about falling in love, there is romance in our taste for decor – mine is shabby and French chic - to me there is nothing more romantic than a pink and white room full of roses, dainty pieces of white-painted furniture, chandelliers, paintings and knick knacks old and new, Romance is in our taste for all things, even the wines we drink, our gardens, the clothes we wear, jewellery and, of course, the books that we read.
Romance is all around us and, for those of us who choose to see our world through rose-tinted glasses, what a lovely world it is that we live in.
